Ingredients:

2 slices of white bread

2 slices of ham (preferably French jambon de Paris)

2 slices of Emmental or Comté cheese

Butter
-
Dijon mustard

Béchamel sauce (optional, for a more indulgent version)
Preparation:

Spread a little mustard on one side of each slice of bread.

Layer the ham and cheese, then close with the second slice of bread.

Butter the outsides and toast in a pan until golden brown.

For the classic version: top with béchamel sauce and a little extra cheese, then grill briefly in the oven until bubbly and golden.
